The Honda Foundation (Public Interest Incorporated Foundation) (Founders: Brothers Soichiro and Benjiro Honda; President: Hiroto Ishida) will co-host the symposium titled “International Symposium on Healthcare and Transportation” with Grameen Communications at Pan Pacific Sonargaon Dhaka, on Saturday, 1st November and Sunday, 2nd November 2025. In this symposium, we will identify the issues surrounding healthcare and transportation in Bangladesh and Japan. Renowned experts in various areas from academia, government, and industry will share unique initiatives that are taking place in each country to address challenges. We will invite young professionals from both countries to explore what the future holds.

The Honda Foundation is a public interest incorporated foundation established by Soichiro Honda and his younger brother Benjiro and is currently led by President Hiroto Ishida. Since the Foundation was established, it has continued to host international symposia where experts from various fields to gather and candidly discuss beyond the capacities of their relevant expertise to define the issues modern society faces and discover methodologies (ecotechnology) to resolve them. In order to realize the Foundationʼs philosophy of “bringing dreams and happiness to people through science and technology”, the Foundation continuously strives to develop discussions on leading topics of the times that may yield great results.

This symposium marks the first on-site symposium in six years, since the 2019 event in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, titled ‘Transition to an Environmental Society through Industry-Government Academia Collaboration’.

Day one will center on discussions led by researchers active in their respective fields. Day two will feature sessions primarily involving young researchers and students, including past recipients of the 'Y-E-S (Young Engineer and Scientist’s) Encouragement Award', which the Foundation presents to students to nurture future leaders in science and technology.

As part of this international symposium, we are pleased to introduce a special “3Zero Competition” for university students. The objective of this competition is to inspire young minds to develop innovative and sustainable solutions that address challenges in the fields of healthcare and transportation. Participating teams will have the opportunity to present their innovative ideas and contribute to building a more inclusive and environmentally sustainable society. The winning team will receive awards and special recognition for their outstanding contribution. This initiative aims to encourage future scientists, engineers, and innovators to engage in international collaboration and open new pathways for partnership between Bangladesh and Japan.
