Dr. Nizam Uddin Ahmed is a highly respected global health leader, social entrepreneur, and public health expert with over 35 years of experience in strengthening health systems across Asia and Africa. He currently serves as CEO of Synesis Health & IT, a pioneering health innovation and technology enterprise, where he leads digital transformation and leveraging technology for equitable immunization and sustainable health outcomes. 

Dr. Ahmed’s multidisciplinary expertise covers immunization, maternal and child health, HIV/AIDS, adolescent and reproductive health, nutrition, digital health, and health systems strengthening. His leadership has been pivotal in shaping national policies and global strategies, particularly in expanding immunization coverage, integrating primary health care, and addressing systemic health inequities.

He is widely recognized for his high-level advocacy and technical assistance to governments, civil society, development partners, and private sector actors. Through cross-sector collaboration, Dr. Ahmed has driven innovative, evidence-based, and inclusive health solutions that blend public health with social business principles to ensure long-term, community-led impact.

Dr. Ahmed brings a unique perspective at the intersection of clinical medicine and public health, with active affiliations in several international and national professional bodies. He currently serves as Chair of the Gavi Civil Society Steering Committee, Member  of National Immunization Technical Advisory Group (NITAG), Member, WHO Strategic Technical Advisory Group of Experts (STAGE), and Adjunct Faculty at Daffodil International University in Bangladesh, and at the Tata Institute of Social Sciences in India. These academic and global platforms enable him to shape public health leadership, foster innovation, using data for decision and mentor emerging leaders.

A key figure in Bangladesh’s COVID-19 response, Dr. Ahmed contributed to strategic planning, digital adaptation, and multisectoral coordination. He has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals on immunization, NCDs, telehealth, pandemic preparedness, and health systems resilience.

Dr. Ahmed is a medical doctor and global public health expert. A sought-after speaker at global events including Gavi, WHO, APLAR, and others, he is widely recognized for his visionary leadership, technical insight, and unwavering commitment to equity-driven, locally tailored health solutions.
